The Sandman Volume 8: World's End does a one eighty from the last volume in that it is another collection of stories that aren't directly associated with the main storyline of the series. This must have frustrated early comic book collectors as each month a different issue would come out and it would make little to no sense. Maybe Vertigo had it in mind to collect the issues in a set like they are doing with these volumes, but initially these comics were all part of one off issues, that were later collected to form these volumes. This time around it's blue land, as the cover denotes the light and airy emotional feel of such classic literature. While the storyline is not too unlike other Gaiman works from The Sandman, each story can bring comparison's to "The Canterbury Tales" where the characters take turn telling their stories.
